USPS® package tracking is automatically included with all USPS domestic shipping products, except for commercial Standard Mail packages, where tracking can be added for an extra fee. Your package undergoes up to 13 scans throughout its journey, commencing at the postal facility.
How can I give delivery instructions? If a package is eligible for the USPS Delivery Instructions™ service, you can indicate where USPS should leave it at your address, send it to a different address, or have it held at your Post Office.
To submit your request, click on "Change Delivery Instructions" on the tracking results page. If you don't see the "Change Delivery Instructions" link, it means the Delivery Instructions service is unavailable for your package.
No "Delivery Instructions" Link: Several factors might render a package ineligible for Delivery Instructions. Ineligible packages could have:
- Already left the Post Office for delivery.
- A Hold Mail request.
- A Forward Mail request.
- A military (APO/FPO) or DPO address.
- An international sender.
- A Delivery Signature request.
- A Collect on Delivery (COD) request.
- An active USPS Package Intercept® order.
- Insurance coverage of $500 or more.
